Can you commentary drive? (January 26, 2009)
It truly is amazing how many trainee instructors are not being taught to commentary drive. This surely has to be one of the most basic requirements of the training course.

If the trainee is going for test and they have a slow or incomplete commentary technique how can they possibly get through moving off and stopping or Anticipation?
This should be started at the first meeting with your trainer NOT as you enter for your driving instructor part 3 exam NOR half way through your 40 hours!
We currently have one girl (from a national training college) who has been on 6 part 3 exams and cannot commentary drive, yet all they do is say you will pass next time because you are test ready!!!!

How inept, Stupid and incompetent do you have to be to tell a trainee that, when she clearly is not???

If you are a trainee on a course practice, practice, practice and be concise!
Not just this mirror and that mirror, but centre mirror, left mirror, Signal down for left, start to brake gently etc, etc.

If you can do it in full it will become easy to abbreviate to suit the learners needs and to jump in when required.
